Kitchen Lighting

Kitchen lighting combines 3 levels: general, task, and ambient. All three are essential.

Lighting: recessed spotlights for general, LED strip under wall cabinets for the worktop, pendant light(s) above the island for ambiance. Neutral white (4000K) for the kitchen.

Mistake: a single ceiling light in the center that leaves the worktop in shadow (your body casts a shadow). Under-cabinet lighting is mandatory.

For a modern kitchen, opt for minimalist and sleek lighting. Choose recessed LED spotlights in the ceiling for general lighting, LED strips under the wall cabinets for task lighting, and a designer pendant light above the island for ambient lighting.

To properly size kitchen lighting, consider the room's surface area and ceiling height. Plan for approximately 30 to 50 watts of general lighting per m², complemented by task and ambient lighting. Ensure homogeneous brightness without shadow zones.

Connected kitchen lighting allows you to control the intensity and color of the light remotely from your smartphone. This way, you can create different atmospheres based on your activities and desires. Furthermore, it helps you save energy through programming and presence detection.

To highlight your kitchen island, choose a designer pendant light suitable for the island's size. Position it approximately 70 cm above the worktop for an ideal height. You can also add recessed LED spotlights around the perimeter of the island for functional lighting.

For kitchen lighting, opt for LED bulbs, which are energy-efficient, durable, and offer excellent light quality. Choose color temperatures between 2700 and 4000 kelvins for a warm atmosphere. Avoid energy-intensive halogen bulbs and fluorescent lights that can be too cool.
