Symmetry works well at the head of the bed (lamps, nightstands), in entryways (pairs of vases, frames), and around a fireplace.

Mistake: too rigid symmetry, like a showroom. Break it up with an asymmetrical element for a natural feel.

Identify the central elements of the room, such as a window, a fireplace, or a large piece of furniture. Then, symmetrically arrange other furniture and accessories around these anchor points to create visual balance.

Identical objects, in even numbers, work very well for symmetry, such as lamps, vases, paintings. You can also play with symmetry using similar elements of different sizes, like armchairs or console tables.

Avoid perfect and overly strict symmetry that might appear artificial. Opt for softer symmetry, with slight variations in sizes, shapes, or colors between elements. This will bring more dynamism and naturalness to your decor.
