Claustra

A claustra is an openwork panel that separates two areas without closing off the space. Made of wood, metal, or MDF, it filters the view and allows light to circulate.

A claustra can separate an entryway from a living room, a desk area from a bedroom, or create an openwork headboard. Geometric or slatted patterns are the most popular.

Mistake: a claustra that is too opaque loses its purpose. The point is to separate without compartmentalizing.

A claustra can be made of wood, metal, or MDF. Each material offers a different style: wood brings warmth, metal an industrial touch, and MDF a more minimalist appearance.
