When choosing the color of a velvet cushion, consider the room's ambiance and other textures present. A neutral tone like gray or beige will easily coordinate. For a bolder look, opt for a stronger color like green, blue, or red.

Very graphic or overly busy patterns risk competing with the rich texture of the velvet cushion. Prefer more subtle patterns like stripes, clean geometric shapes, or delicate floral prints.

The ideal number of velvet cushions on a sofa depends on the size of the sofa. Generally, plan for 3 to 5 cushions for a 2-seater sofa, and 5 to 7 for a 3-seater sofa. Be sure to create a harmonious balance between the different cushions.
